SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Engine Yard today announced that the first annual JRubyConf will take place Sunday, November 22 in Burlingame, CA immediately following RubyConf.

The JRubyConf roster will feature JRuby experts from all over the globe. This technical, cutting edge, free event will include talks from the entire JRuby core team: Charlie Nutter, Thomas Enebo, Nick Sieger, and Ola Bini, as well as other community members. In addition, the team will be sitting on a panel for a full Q&A session. Other agenda highlights include talks on JRuby on Rails, JRuby on Google App Engine, as well as a look at production applications inside and outside the Enterprise using JRuby.

"JRuby has experienced incredible growth over the last few years, and the recent move to Engine Yard is just a testament to how far we've come," said Charles Nutter, co-lead of the JRuby project. "There's a lot of excitement, progress, and adoption, and a dedicated conference is the perfect next step."

JRuby is a stable, high performance Ruby implementation that is showing increasing popularity among Java developers looking for more productive
frameworks. It has fast become a compelling choice for Ruby adoption among enterprise developers in particular.

"We see JRuby as one of the most important advancements in our community," said Joe O'Brien, Co-founder at EdgeCase, LLC. "This technology forms a bridge between the latest advances in language and existing infrastructure and knowledge. It enables us to take the next evolutionary step in wider adoption while bringing the freedom of Ruby development to a large enterprise market."

The first JRubyConf event will be produced by Engine Yard with additional sponsors including EdgeCase, LLC and Thoughtworks Studios. The event will take place at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Burlingame, CA. Tickets are available now (separate registration for each event is required).
