Apache Pioneers, Kirrily Roberts, and Brian Behlendorf to Keynote at ApacheCon US 2009

FOREST HILL, Md., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) today announced the keynotes and sponsors for ApacheCon US 2009, which takes place 2-6 November 2009 at the Oakland Marriott City Center in Oakland, Calif. This year's conference, trainings, and expo features the largest program to date in celebration of the 10th anniversary of both the ASF's incorporation and when the very first ApacheCon was held.

To commemorate the monumental influence Apache technologies have had on computing over the last decade, ApacheCon's keynote presentations will reflect on the past, present and future success of the Open Source foundation:

  • Wednesday, 4 November, 9.30AM: Founding Members Cliff Skolnick, James Duncan Davidson, Brian Behlendorf, Ted Leung, and Jon Stevens will reflect on the early days of The Apache Software Foundation, the opportunities and challenges along the way, and the impact and evolution of the Apache Way over the past decade.
  • Thursday, 5 November, 11.30AM: Kirrily Roberts, Community Director at Metabase Technologies, will talk about inclusivity in open source, extending the community, and encouraging contributions from people of all walks of life.
  • Friday, 6 November, 12:15PM: ASF founding Member Brian Behlendorf will present "How Open Source Developers Can (Still!) Save The World," highlighting how Open Source software has been a vehicle for organizing social movements around the world to improve the lives of millions of people.
