If you've ever spent more than 10 minutes on the Discovery Channel, you'll know that the, um, "miracle of birth" is less miracle and more placenta. Watching an information security conference take its first squalling breath is another, way less gross, story - one that any event organizer can tell you is preternatural in its own right.

C-T recently did an interesting interview with Linux Pro Magazine's leading lady Rikki Kite, and we were ambushed with an interview request in return. Huzzah! Read ROSE Blog's interview with our very own admin fatale, in which she talks truth, justice, FOSS, and dead feminists.

Calendar: The Con-Techie team is currently looking into a calendar function / custom Joomla module that will interact with our current open source conference database.

It would be really super sweet if we can get our calendar to support multi-day functions, and play nice with Google Maps or OpenStreetMap

It will be several months before calendar functionality appears on the site, but we'll keep you posted.

Radius Search: Search extension that allows users to find events within a certain distance of their current location.

My Events Module: Menu that allows users to track their added events & event favorites.

New Functionality: My Events
Blog

Our functionality upgrades are just getting underway, but we've got a fledgling version of a "My Events" function on our site. Registered users can now easily find and manage the open source events that they've added to C-T.

To find your events list, first log in, then click on the Your Details link in the User Menu. Below your personal profile information, you'll see a list of events that you've added to our directory (providing you have, in fact, added an event). Next up: favoriting!
