Yesterday, Unwired View (and the rest of the gabbling, CES 2010 attendant world) tossed out some notes on Emblaze mobile's shiny new contender for the global not-an-iPhone smartphone title belt. And the nifty part? The Else Emblaze (also being schizophrenically marketed as the Else Intuition... wait, maybe that's "First Else") features an Access Linux-based OS and a lovely touchscreen GUI that looks - dare we say it - mildly cyberpunk. Do want.

I also kinda wanna make out with whoever named the phone after some kind of red mage spell + programming statement.

Take a closer look with this vid from Mobile Gazette:

...Wait, did he just say "With a nod to 2010"? The future has arrive-ed.

The downside is that the Emblaze's manufacturers are based in Israel, and as Unwired notes, "While Emblaze is optimistic about its chances getting in with US carriers, it’s facing a very difficult uphill battle. For one, Apple and Google already have extremely strong footholds in the US with stable, well-known OS that have thousands of competent apps available for them. This n00b OS from Access doesn’t have a SDK available for it yet, and would take quite a while for anyone to give it any sort of attention or respect. So while we are fascinated by the device itself, we wish Emblaze the best of luck though we expect it to walk the same path as the Edelweiss."

True. Linux distros have a hard enough time keeping their traction though they may have been among the first viable OSes on the personal computer market, much less as latecomers to a marketplace already teeming with . But here's a raised cup to Emblaze growing up big, strong and sexy.
